Killaloe-Ballina Local History Society began with an informal community meeting in our local library, on 23rd August 2017. We were delighted with the excellent turnout of over twenty people who were excited to start a conversation about the rich heritage of our local landscape.
We have done so much and there is so much that we would like to do.
We continue to hold monthly talks, which we advertise on this website and on our Facebook page (click here to follow us!) and our Instagram page (click here to follow us!)
In November 2018, we moved to our a new venue , and we are thrilled with the offer of accommodation from The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre in Ballina.
The management and staff look after us so well!
We have some of our Summer talks in St. Flannan’s Cathedral, Killaloe and we are so appreciative to the select vestry for allowing us to make use of this amazing space.
If you would like to get more involved with the behind the scenes of the society, please email us at killaloeballinalhs@gmail.com, and we’ll let you know when the next committee meeting is. This is just where we have a coffee and a chat about future projects and plans. Don’t be shy!
The current committee is:
Chairperson: Arlene White
Secretary: Deborah Dudgeon
Acting Treasurer: Darren O’Connell
